Learn how to recognise the signs that someone may be impaired and putting workplace safety at risk.
Many substances impair judgement and compromise your safety at work. Understand the different drug classifications, offences and penalties in terms of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975. The behaviours and protocols that are used when dealing with individuals under the influence of substances will be explained.
You will gain an understanding of how this can not only affect the individual as an employee, but also the wider community.

First Aid Refresher

6.5hrs

2hrs shorter than the Foundation First Aid course - First Aid Refresher is just that, a course to refresh
a learner’s knowledge. As such, there is no specific assessments. However, learners will be observed
completing some practical scenarios in CPR, choking, traumatic injuries and medical emergencies.
Learners are expected to fully participate in every aspect of the course. This can include practical
scenarios, group discussions or tabletop exercises.

• Meets WorkSafe NZ requirements for first aid training.
• It will give you a First Aid Refresher certificate that is valid for 2 years

NB:
Learners can only refresh their current First Aid Cert which has not expired for more than 3 months.
Please supply a copy of your current FIrst Aid Certificate when making your booking.

NZ First Aid Certificate

1.5 days (12hrs)

NZQA Level 2, NZQA Level 3

NZ First Aid Cert is a 12hr course that covers the NZQA unit standards 6401, 6402 and 6400. This
course is held over 1.5 days for general courses or 2 school days for schools.
In addition, this course has further focus on managing first aid in emergency situations. There is
some teaching focused on Anaphylaxis, managing multiple patients, head injuries, environmental
conditions (hyper and hypothermia), spinal injuries, and eye injuries.
This course includes all course content from the Provide Basic Life Support and Foundation First Aid
courses. Learners must demonstrate their knowledge of managing first aid in emergencies, by managing 1
situation with 2 patients and the help of 1 bystander.

All assessments are scenario based.
• Eligible for NZQA unit standards 6401, 6402 and 6400.
• Meets WorkSafe NZ requirements for first aid training.
• It will give you a NZ First Aid Certificate that is valid for 2 years

NZQA unit 6401 v7 | 1 credits | Level 2
People credited with this unit standard are able to provide first aid.

NZQA unit 6402 v9 | 2 credits | Level 2
People credited with this unit standard are able to: provide basic life support, manage a foreign body airway obstruction, manage first aid for life threatening bleeding, and provide first aid management for a person in shock.

NZQA unit 6400 v7 | 2 credits | Level 3
People credited with this unit standard are able to manage first aid in an emergency situation.
